 Turbine Jet Powered Trike

Yes, we have found the perfect jet turbine engine for this project, SWB Turbines has graciously consented to allowing us one that was on loan to another defense contractor for engineering purposes, at a deep factory discount which will not be discussed here but we are so excited by this find.  As you all know the Jet Trike idea was on the boards a few years ago and then mothballed due to my finances and health, however; SWB Turbines has answered our prayers and we are now going forward with the project after all.  I will give all the information here that I can as we get into this project and post our progress on a regular basis.  I will post photos as I can get them and provide thumbnails to full sized images.

I was very lucky to get a phone call from William Morse one of SWB turbines factory persons and had a most wonderful conversation.  Mr. Morse filled me in on a few of their projects he could talk about (remember they are a defense contractor supplier themselves) and told me a lot about their turbines capabilities.  When we first started looking into small turbines all we could find in our category were smaller rc type turbines which we would have needed multiples of to push my fat butt around making it unaffordable by my means.  So I am just hopping with excitement over this opportunity and getting to work on a newa trike rear end to accommodate the turbine and give it better stability for higher speeds than human power can provide.  The recumbent portion will be built every bit as anatomically minded as our other recumbent versions for ultimate comfort.  There will be some necessary changes made but nothing much structurally.  The back of the seat stays will have a heat shield attached to them to deflect any forward heat from affecting the back of the canvas duck seat cover.  The cargo or second person seat area of the trike will house the turbine mounting hardware which will be welded brackets and a 4 sided 6061 aluminum turbine housing that can be fastened to the trike axle housing with common hardware.  It will take a couple of more emails to get more specifics for the mounting system but I whole heartedly trust William Morse and Jeff Seymour will help us with that too.

Everyone gets such wide eyes when I talk about building a non human powered craft but all love the idea and want to help anyway they can.  Some of you have even offered to help finance the project but I can not accept contributions for one of my own projects for myself.  If this was for one of our local Shriner's kids, or any other low income disabled child or adult I would accept any financial help at all with big thanks as usual, but this project is for selfish reasons of my own and I could not in good consciousness accept any money from private sources so we will only accept some corporate help and no private money contributions will not be accepted but I thank you all for wanting too, it means a lot to me.  I will list all our company friends who help on another dedicated page as usual as  the web site develops.

We are very lucky to be able to obtain such a nice little turbine, we will be working with as much power in one turbine as four of any other rc type turbines put together, I wouldn't want to put one in my little rc plane, it would just punch right through the fuselodge and fly out the front of it, hehehe.  Even though our little Cessna 182 rc model is the140 large sized rc it would never handle it.  So even though my health will no longer let me pursue a pilots license to fly jet aircraft I'll still be able to fly across the ground.  So check out their web site and see what we are talking about, you will be amazed at some of the video they provide.

I am working on some photos of the team and the trike construction to post for more info and should have them up soon, right now I am working against Quest who keeps shutting down my internet connection every ten minutes so I will take a break and do that while Quest gets things working better.
